Love the ice cream and you can alway count on t he BBQ. Service was good and manager was even kind enough to put on the football game.

The meats here are delicious, the sides even more so and the sauces... oh! the sauces!! Free soft serve is nice, and the pickles too, but the best part is the service. Smiling, friendly staff just "make it!" Very clean and no one tried to hurry us out, even though we were there quite a while (with kids). Loved it.

    Solid BBQ but expensive.

Awesome BBQ! Great customer service and free ice cream!? Ok! I'll be back!

You have to look at this place like a fast food joint. There are plenty of smoke/bbq style places in the area. And I would say most of them are better then these guys. But for the price and convenience of having a drive thru? I would say they are pretty good. Had the brisket sandwich. It was good and very filling. Along with that the we tried three sides. Potato casserole, green beans with bacon and baked beans. The only one I could say I didn't like was the baked beans. Very bland and almost tasted like they sat in the smoker to long. But over all I will be back and try one of the plated BBQ.

A strange thing happened today. For the first time since Q4U quit serving red beans and rice and collard greens, I actually finished both sides that I got with a BBQ plate. I think now is as good of a time as any to pontificate a bit on chains. Skip ahead to the next paragraph if it's too much, but the reason I dislike chains and don't tend to review them and that I lean towards local is not because chains are too big to need the money. The recent failure of several should tell us that's not the case. Besides supporting the local economy, I want food that is special and made with care and is, of course, tasty and a good value. That's the primary consideration ultimately and a lot of local shops fail utterly at this. With chains, to meet the mass consumption requirement, a lot of things are done to food in processing, to make it cheap and to give it some shelf life that tend to detract heavily from the taste and quality. BBQ is especially susceptible to this, but Dickey's has found a way to make BBQ both scale-able and still put it in the upper echelon of whatever city it happens to be in. In several cities, it is probably the best restaurant of its type. As to those delicious sides, I had the jalapeno beans and the fried okra. The beans, in particular, were magnificent, one of the best sides I've had at any restaurant. The okra was no shame, either. Certainly it was not up to the level of R & R, but it is better than every other okra I've tried except that, so a second, but that second is still distant. The bun was ok, nothing special there. The free ice cream was about what you'd expect, bland soft-serve vanilla, but free, so why not. Coke Zero mix was competent but nothing spectacular, though I was thrilled they had it. As to the sauces and Q, of the five sauces I had, I wouldn't bother with the sweet BBQ or the BBQ ranch again. The regular ranch was just ok, regular BBQ was a bit better than the spicy, but both were again, mostly competent, though the backstory of the Original (regular) BBQ sauce was somewhat entertaining. They were also served hot, which was a nice touch. I was given the wrong meat plate, but after having them throw in a rib bone, I just rolled with it, so wound up trying 4. The ham, which was unusual enough I wanted to try it, was dried out and again, tasted ok, but nothing too great. Both the brisket and pulled pork were fairly moist, though they tasted more similar than different ultimately. They melded well with the sauces and were probably closer to good than just ok. The ribs were more into very good, bordering on great territory. The rub, with a delicate hint of sweetness and the perfect way they were cooked, the wonderful smoky flavor, I would definitely throw down on a rack of these and forsake all else (except maybe the okra and beans) with no hesitation. These are ribs on a stunning level for anyone, let alone for a chain and were the star of the show here. Service here was very good and really drove this thing from 3.5 stars to 4...well that and those fantastic ribs and the beans, I guess. Everything else was probably more like 3.5 or lower (the decor, though amusing in spots, was nothing too special), but when you have staff that actually cares, that is friendly and seems to genuinely want you to have a great experience, it counts.

Every time it's a home run. Granted, sometimes they are out of what you want but they warn you on the website that later in the day it may happen!

I have been to many Dickeys in the past and this was the worst experience! Everything from small portions to bones in my pulled pork. I might give them another shot but honestly i now know why the place was empty during prime dinner hour! Terrible! The staff was very friendly and helpful however they were very skimpy on the food. I ordered the 3 meat plate which consisted of super dry brisket, pork full of bones and sausage that was way overcooked and rubbery. Last but not least ever since eating there last night i have been spending a lot of time in the bathroom. This place is just not worth it! There are many other mom and pop bbq in salt lake that i would easily choose over this.

I was pretty happy with this impulse dinner purchase. Service was friendly and portion sizes reasonable. Their sauce is a bit spicy, so I was glad it was on the side. I was a little surprised that the pulled pork sandwich did not come with coleslaw, as that is pretty standard with most places I've gone to. Despite that, the coleslaw is pretty good, as well as the beans. The ribs were so flavorful you don't actually need sauce, and they fall right off the bone. The potato salad was a bit bland, the roll had a sweet flavor which was nice, and the mac and cheese was very cheesy. All in all a good meal.

Best dickeys in salt lake, they make the food right and service is awesome it is a little pricey but you have to consider the type of meat they're serving you.

First thing is the smell, second...the staff! Immediately felt like they knew me! Offering samples of whatever I wasn't sure about, service is prompt and details are key for them. I'll keep coming back to this place for sure!

Portion sizes were fairly small for the price I paid. There's several other authentic BBQ restaurants in SLC that give you more food for less money and they're just as good. In the time we were there two homeless men walked in and helped themselves to the free ice cream in back. Several workers saw and didn't say anything. Maybe they were feeling compassionate that day or afraid they's get stabbed in the neck if they confronted them. Either way, I felt uneasy with them huddled around helping themselves to ice cream. Nothing against the homeless, but I don't think there's anything wrong with telling them it's for paying customers only. I felt like I was dining in a homeless shelter. When it comes to BBQ in SLC this ranks at the bottom for me. I'll probably never eat here again.

I went to Dickeys for the second time yesterday. I'll keep coming too. The food was great and the free ice cream was the icing on the cake!

Went here with a group for dinner. First, the fried okra is really good -- like I ordered them in the Delta good. Second, the bbq is good too. Third, its very affordable. I had the brisket which was a little thick for my taste. However, very flavorful with good bbq sauce. The ribs other people ordered looked yummy too. Another thing i like about this place is the free softserve icecream.

Another Chain BBQ joint. Need more one-offs, that is where the love is. I would go to a place like R&R to get real BBQ.

Summary: Stay away from the brisket, but I think other things are OK. I admit it, I'm a bit of a BBQ snob. After spending three years in Central Texas, I come to expect the best of smoked meats. I do like saucy BBQ, too, but only in certain circumstances and on certain meats. It's with that probably biased mentality that I entered Dickey's, a franchise BBQ joint on 300 West right next to Costco. I ordered a two meat plate, which comes with two sides. I chose Okra and their baked/mashed potatoes. To my surprise, they also offer complimentary big dill pickles and free ice cream. Still, $15 for franchise BBQ + a drink seems a little much. I'm pretty sure my meat didn't come from the smoker, but rather came from the hot box. And in the brisket, you could tell. Bad cuts, tough, dry, and utterly lacking in smoke flavor. I could not discern a rub on the outside of the meat, and there was hardly any smoke ring. The ribs, though, were actually pleasant. They easily fell off the bone and worked in harmony with Dickey's signature BBQ sauce--a little runnier than KC style, with a bit of a snappy vinegar taste. Sort of like if you put KC, Texas, and Memphis styles in a blender and mixed them all up. They were fatty and moist and pretty good eatin'. They probably withstand the hotbox better. The sides were fine. Okra tasted like it was frozen out of a bag, but still a good approximation. The potatoes were a little underseasoned, but still had that mashy-sour creamy-chivey-bacony-stuffed-baked-smashed taste that gets me. Ambiance is a big bust. They try for the vintage look, with old school wood paneling and a chair rail and vintage signs. But it doesn't work-- the vintage signs are too obviously replicas and there aren't enough of them on the walls to cover up the bad paneling. And then the modern arching track lighting looks like it came right from Ikea. Thank goodness they have flat screens to watch (sound off) to distract me. I will probably never go back to Dickey's, but the ribs make me think it's not so bad. If I had to go back, I'd stick to the ribs, or other meats that go better with sauce. Just stay away from the brisket.

I eat sleep and breathe BBQ. At home, I smoke everything and IMHO I'm good at it and get a ton of compliments. That being said, I'm picky. I was skeptical being that this is a chain restaurant. However I was pleasantly surprised. The BBQ is above average from what I've had at similarly classed BBQ. Prices were decent and free ice cream was a bonus. I was traveling with my brother and girlfriend on our trip here. He raved about the ribs and he's as equally picky. Good job Dickey's!

This place isn't very good. The only reason I came here was because someone gave me a card for a free sandwich when you buy a drink. I went with the pulled pork sandwich which was dry and didn't have very much flavour. The bbq sauces were okay, with the spicy one being my favourite. I did like the pickle jar and it was nice that they give you free ice cream. The service was friendly add quick, which was nice. Also, the restaurant appeared clean. It's just too bad that food isn't very good, especially since I have 1 more free sandwich card. Good thing Costco is across the street, otherwise my free sandwich card would go to waste.

This, my friends, is Damn Good BBQ! Dickey's has a definite fast food vibe and it is very fast. They run it assembly line style and they keep the line of customers moving rapidly. The food, however, doesn't taste like fast food. It's as good as any Q I've had in SLC and is also a pretty good deal. They do a light dusting of sauce on your chosen meats as they move down the line. Then you have 3 added sauce options to slather things up real good. Sorry... BBQ makes me talk (and write) like a good ol' boy. Them's the best tasin' vittles I ever flapped a lip over! I had the two meat plate with ribs (2) and polish sausage. It cost around $11 and included two sides (mac and cheese and jalapeno beans were my choices). The ribs were dynamite. The ample amounts of meat fell off the bone, yet they weren't melt in your mouth style... they had some good texture. When I saw that only two ribs were included, I was a bit worried, but these things had LOTS of meat on them. They were well worth the price. The polish sausage was really good and flavorful. I LOVED the hot n' spicy sauce and the regular BBQ was also delicious. The mac and cheese was super good and flavorful. I wasn't a huge fan of the beans and they didn't have nearly the spicy kick I was expecting. But a shot of hot n' spicy sauce made them delish. They had about ten different sides to choose from, so I need to go back a few more times to pick my faves. I've heard the will give you a sample of whatever you want before you buy, but I didn't ask, since there was a huge line behind me and I just wanted to keep things moving. The ambiance is just regular casual barbecue. They have a few TV's and the vibe is laidback picnic style. Like I said... Dickey's is just plain good!

Was pretty disappointed in the portion sizes for the price. They were out of ribs, but the pulled pork and brisket were both good flavor, as were all the sides. All said, I will probably pass on Dickey's next time. I'm not on a diet

Yay! I AM a fan! I don't know why I love Dickey's so much- it is a chain BBQ place in a strip mall and I am a vegetarian, so it doesn't seem like we're off to a very good start. I had eaten at a Dickey's at an airport last year and really liked it, so I was really happy to see them sprouting up everywhere! I get the Big Baker baked potato with no bacon and then usually a side of fried okra or mac & cheese. Yum yum! My meat-loving husband loves Dickey's more than I do, understandably! Everything just tastes really...Southern? which I guess means really unhealthy, but it's a good once-in-awhile treat! Freshly brewed sweet tea! I also love the free soft serve ice cream when you're all done! Nice way to end an excellent, filling meal! Be sure to pick up an "I'm a Regular!" card to get it punched each time you come in- earn free drinks and meals!

I spent over $10 on a pulled pork sandwich and 2 sides, and I LEFT HUNGRY! The sandwich looked like they were rationing the meat and the sides were literally 1/2 full. They were already small cups with the bottoms lifted about 3/8" up. The servings are about 3 Tablespoons at the most. I was so annoyed that I spoke to to General Manager who was not even appologetic. He just said, "Thats the bad thing about the Dickies Franchise, their portions aren't very big." My first and last visit to Dicky's was very disappointing. Avoid the RIP OFF!

If you want a great BBQ experience, Dickey's is it. I was hesitant because it is a chain and didn't have high expectations. But I was wrong. The staff greets every single customer that walks through the door and is helpful with the ordering process. The food itself was great! I had the big BBQ sandwich and was really impressed with the quality and flavor of the pulled pork. The sides were good, get the onion tanglers (dumb name, but taste good!). The manger came by our table to ask how the food was and cleared our plates, even though it is usually a pick up your own mess kind of place. The free ice cream is a nice touch, as well as the dill pickles. The self-serve BBQ sauces was also great. I can't say enough about what a positive experience I had here. Even though chains can be annoying, Dickey's really Is above and beyond better than I ever expected.

For the quality and speed in which you get your BBQ, I gave Dickey's 5 Stars. If I have time to sit and spend in a restaurant I have a couple other spots I will look at. The brisket was very good, so was the pulled pork. I've had the potato casserole, green beans and cole slaw, all three are worth getting in my opinion. I looooove sweet tea, and the sweet tea at Dickey's is as close to home brewed sweet tea as you will get around here. I love kosher dill pickles, and having the barrel of dills to pick from is an outstanding starter and for me dessert. I haven't had enough room for the free soft serve at the end, but I have been told that it is good. Go Get You Some...
